Inspired by Nature

I work on panel, birch plywood. I seal the wood with rabbit skin glue. I apply an oil based primer with a large knife leaving lots of organic marks. After this dries thoroughly, I draw a grid of sorts giving me a guide to design my composition on. Then I will draw my composition and then begin a underpainting.

Color is then added in layers. In-between the layers, I will sand on the panel to remove paint and textured lines to go back to the white. This is usually where the light source is or where there is a spot of rest. This process of adding and subtracting paint continues until I am finished with the painting.

Nature has been a refuge for me to balance and harmonize my life. It is a place where I can soak in beauty and solve problems with my paintings. I want to share my love for God through my work.
